Firm Profile

Coran & Ober, as it was originally known, was founded in the 1960s by brothers-in-law Samuel Coran and Ralph Ober. Since its inception the firm has focused on commercial law and serviced the wholesale grocery industry. In 1979, Simeon Soterakis, a solo practioner with a strong commercial real estate practice merged with Coran & Ober to form Coran, Ober & Soterakis.

After the retirement of Mr. Coran and Mr. Ober, under the leadership of Mr. Soterakis, the firm expanded into a variety of areas including real estate development and finance. Mr. Soterakis pioneered the application of Article 71 of the NY Civil Practice Law, Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and the common law plenary remedy of Replevin to effectively enforce the rights of commercial creditors.

Today, Coran Ober P.C. preserves the values established by its founders, merging strong personal relationships and family values with cutting-edge legal counsel.
